Diane & Richard

Year one & counting

Married September 6, 2025 · Del Mar Villa, Dundee, Oregon

The countdown on this site used to run toward the wedding. Now it counts up. This is the living archive of us — the big days and the small ones, added as we go.

The Beginning

Before the wedding, before the ring — September 10, 2021 is where the whole story starts.

The Day We Chose Each Other

Mexico City

Two and a half months in, we tacked a Mexico City trip onto the back of Shane and Sarah's wedding. Somewhere in that city, on November 24, we decided: just us, from here on.

Every anniversary on this page traces back to this one.

Engaged

LOGI · Hannam-dong, Seoul

November 20, 2024, halfway around the world in Seoul — at LOGI, a small restaurant in Hannam-dong. The question was asked, and the answer was yes.

We stayed for dinner right after, at this table in the window.

Making It Official

San Francisco City Hall

Two months after the Dundee wedding came the paperwork version: a November morning at San Francisco City Hall with a handful of our people.

A commissioner in a robe, a few minutes of vows under the gold arch, and we walked out holding the certificate that made the state agree with what everyone already knew.

The Mouse

The pantry

December 6, 9:45am: "I just saw a baby mouse in the house." By lunch, Diane owned eighteen traps.

What followed was an eighteen-day siege — pantry standoffs, closet sightings, strategy summits over text, a night the mouse fell onto a trap and walked away — until Christmas Eve morning finally brought the words every marriage eventually earns: "I have mouse news."

Valentine's in Vegas

Golden Nugget · Fremont Street, Las Vegas

Our first married Valentine's Day, spent the only sensible way: downtown Vegas with the entire crew, dressed loud and losing responsibly.

The Honeymoon, Part One — Langkawi

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Malaysia

Two weeks in Southeast Asia, starting on an island in the Andaman Sea — and because we apparently can't stop, the honeymoon opened with a wedding: Vijay and Lexy's, right there at the Four Seasons.

Storm clouds over the water, beach ceremonies, and the two of us still in wedding clothes — someone else's this time.

The Honeymoon, Part Two — Cambodia

Phnom Penh & Kampot

The Royal Palace glowing gold, a pepper-plantation villa in Kampot where the sun set over the pool, high tea at Raffles, and tuk-tuks everywhere we could talk our way into.

The Honeymoon, Part Three — Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City

The last leg: Saigon rooftops at night, a spa day, iced coffee in every café with a cat drawn on the wall, and — after two weeks of the best food of our lives — poolside pizza, zero regrets.

March 18 we flew home, married-married, jet-lagged, and very sure about all of it.

The Slow Summer

Not every chapter is a trip. This one was slow on purpose — one of us on the mend for a few months, the other quietly running the whole show.

Home-cooked dinners, mahjong nights, movies, and a lot of sitting still together. For better or worse turned out to mostly mean grilled cheese and good company.

Diane's Birthday

Saison, San Francisco

First married birthday for the chef of the house: a cabana day in the sun, then dinner at Saison — someone else doing the cooking for once, candle and all.

Presents in pajamas at home, cake at the counter, birthday girl thoroughly celebrated.

Year One

One year married. This page is the anniversary gift: a place where the story keeps getting written.
